Card me - no really, it’s OK!

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

We have a running race in the family to see who can be the oldest and still get carded by the grocery clerk. I think one of my aunt’s rung in at around 36 (before-botox). So last weekend I was at the 7-11 and the guy rang up a six pack of beer, eyeing me carefully. I was busy fidgeting with the ATM card, too busy to notice. He awkwardly asked me if he needed to card me. Needless to say this made me instantly happy and I said coyly if you think you need to. I’m sure in his mind he was wondering what the heck is up with her, but being 40 the idea of being carded sounded like a good idea to me! He finally ended up asking me how old I was, stating that I didn’t look a day over 35. HA. I’m not so sure that was a compliment to go from do I need to card you to not a day over 35. I told him that had he carded me, it would have made for a fabulous story to be sure and tell everyone - including my mom!

Cowboys on Ice Skates - oh my!

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

I have always loved just about all things symbolizing life on the ranch; cowboys, cowgirls, boots, hats, riding, horses, cattle and the music! Mix it up with another favorite sport - ice skating and I just about fainted.

Now I just want to know if this thing is for real and if so, where?! I love it and think you will too. Let me know what you think!

Most dangerous wine opener!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

It is evening and you have a fabulous dinner on the table that carefully balances every corner of the food pyramid. What would go more perfect than a nice glass of wine. Sound nice?

Opening bottles of wine in our house has turned into some sort of adventure, ranging from the ever so satisfying pop of the cork to running like a madman to the bathroom for a large towel.

The reason? The wine opener of choice.

Yellow Rose of Texas

Monday, August 18th, 2008

This video of Audrey Landers singing Yellow Rose of Texas brought back bitter sweet memories. Great memories of when I saw my sister as a little girl up on stage, singing with her friends at the local church. Not so great memories when I realized I had the hairstyle.
